The Apollo 11 mission is a historic event that embodies, in various ways, the concept of scale, encompassing the relationship between one small step for man and a giant leap for mankind. However, it also exposes the disparities between the event itself and its legacy, truth and fabrication. These gaps reflect the differences in how we perceive the moon, between an intimate and romantic imagination and its physical conquest, realized as a national mission following the Cold War. This may be the profound tragedy of fulfilling a fantasy and what causes it to cease being fantastical.
The work aims to reintroduce the moon to the realms of imagination, through the scale of decoration and cinema, and invites us to discover that we can reach the moon without even leaving the kitchen.
